About Haslemere Pilates
Our story
Born from clinical expertise, designed for individual care.
After years of working closely with patients as a physiotherapist, our founder Karol realised that standard Pilates often missed the mark on individuality. Haslemere Pilates was born to close the gap between generic fitness and genuine, movement-based rehabilitation. Every movement is intentional, fully tailored, and clinically informed; helping you move better, recover faster, and build strength safely.
Karol House
Karol qualified as a state registered physiotherapist in 1999 and as a Pilates teacher in 2002.
Exceptional physiotherapy background
Karol’s three years at UCL included placements in top London specialist hospitals such as Stanmore, The Brompton, Great Ormond Street and The Royal Marsden. She has also worked under the country’s best orthopaedic and rheumatology consultants gaining amazing experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of every clinical condition.
Combining Pilates with physiotherapy
It was during her time in Harley Street that Karol’s Pilates journey began, when she met Gordon Thomson (co founder of balanced body). Gordon encouraged her to undertake a traditional Pilates apprenticeship and to work as a lead teacher under Alan Herdman and Heather Sampson in one of the first Pilates studios in London. She was responsible for training new Pilates teachers as well as manual therapy and rehabilitation for clients. Karol has undertaken courses with Ron Fletcher, Jay Grimes and Lisa Bradshaw.
